SUMMER GLOW: YOUR GUIDE
TO HYDRATION AND HEALTHY SKIN
It sure is starting to feel like summer. It feels wonderful to soak up the sun and get that Vitamin D boost, but I get it, it’s not always easy feeling confident during summer if you’re not feeling great about your skin.
At nearly 52, I’ve enjoyed my time under the sun, but I’ve learned a thing or two along the way.
Here’s my top tips on how to look and feel your best this Summer, whilst also taking care of your skin! Let’s get into it!
STAY HYDRATED… INSIDE AND OUT
We all enjoy the occasional glass of bubbly or wine, but have you noticed how much better you feel when you drink water?
It’s the simplest, yet most frequently forgotten step! Your body craves water to preserve its internal, and external, hydration. You know the drill, try and drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. If that’s tricky, throw a few wedges of lemon or sliced up cucumber to the mix to give that water some flavour.
SUNSCREEN!
Yes, I know you’ve heard this a million times, but it’s worth repeating: SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN, SUNSCREEN! Even if you’re just heading outside for a quick drive to the shops, those sneaky UV rays can find you. Opt for a broad-spectrum SPF 30 (or higher) and reapply every 2 hours, especially if you’re swimming or sweating.
My top recommendation for sunscreen is the SPF 50 from Aspect. It’s so lightweight, and not at all greasy… it goes beautifully under your makeup. Next time you are in the spa, pick up a bottle for yourself. You won’t regret it.
EXFOLIATE… BUT NOT TOO MUCH!
Not only does exfoliation remove dead skin cells, it also makes your skin feel rejuvenated and fresh. When it comes to exfoliators, gentle is best. Over exfoliating can make your skin more sensitive to the sun, and we don’t want that. Limit exfoliation to once or twice a week.
My top recommendation for exfoliants is our very own Nest & Temple Body Scrub.
PROTECT YOUR LIPS AND EYES
So often when we talk about being sun safe, we forget our lips and eyes. The best way to protect your peepers is by wearing sunglasses that provide UV protection. And when it comes to lips, choose a balm that has SPF. There is nothing worse than sunburnt lips! Trust us.
GIVE YOUR SKIN A VITAMIN C BOOST
Did you know that Vitamin C can boost your skin’s defense against the sun? A Vitamin C facial offers a multi-tiered defense mechanism for your skin against the sun’s deleterious effects.
Its potent antioxidant properties combat the free radicals generated by UV exposure, minimising cellular damage.
Additionally, it boosts collagen production, vital for repairing and mitigating signs of ageing. Vitamin C also works wonders in lightening sun-induced hyperpigmentation, promoting an even skin tone and aiding in the fading of sunspots.
My top recommendation for boosting your skin’s Vitamin C is with our Radiance Vitamin C Facial.
I hope these little tips have given you food for thought!
Wishing you a wonderful and sun safe summer!
